UNS
S31803, F51, 1.4462 duplex stainless steel is designed to combine
improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting, crevice
corrosion and high strength when compared with other stainless alloys. Duplex UNS S31803, F51, 1.4462duplex alloy resists chloride environments and sulphide stress corrosion. Duplex UNS S31803, F51, 1.4462 is also roughly double the strength of standard austenitic stainless steels. These attributes mean that Duplex
UNS S31803, F51, 1.4462 can be used successfully as an alternative to
standard stainless steel specifications in applications where higher
strength and resistance to stress corrosion cracking is required. Duplex UNS S31803, F51, 1.4462 is also referred to as 2205.
When machining UNS
S31803, F51, 1.4462 turning feeds above 0.25mm are recommended whenever
possible and SNMG120408 carbide tools are advised for optimum chip
breaking of this duplex stainless steel specification. For drilling ofUNS S31803, F51, 1.4462, high pressure lubrication is recommended and coated carbide tools are preferred.
